For her arangetram, she performed seven different classical Indian dances, with skill, dedication, and tangible passion. She began formal training for this endeavor in July 2021, but started dancing at the age of just three years old.

For her arangetram, she performed seven different classical Indian dances, with skill, dedication, and tangible passion. She began formal training for this endeavor in July 2021, but started dancing at the age of just three years old. Not only did Enika execute a remarkable performance on the day, but she also raised significant funds and awareness for HOPE.

In 2015, Enika had the opportunity to visit HOPE’s projects in Kolkata, with her mother, where they experienced first-hand the harsh, unsafe, and exploitative environment that street-connected and slum-dwelling children face on a daily basis. She felt inspired by HOPE’s work to protect these children and provide them with a nurturing childhood – this has culminated in Enika  raising  funds for, and raising awareness about,  the work of HOPE as a part of her arangetram.

Enika wanted to “celebrate this joyous occasion by giving back the same happiness we are experiencing,  to the underprivileged children of Kolkata”. In total, Enika raised in excess of $3,400, to support the street-connected and slum-dwelling children in HOPE’s care.

Enika invited Ellie Dixon, HOPE USA’s Social Media and Fundraising Officer, to speak about HOPE’s humanitarian work at her arangetram event. We could not be more impressed by Enika – she is a shining example of a young person with a passion for helping others, and the skills to execute an extensive personal and humanitarian endeavor at such a young age. We send our sincerest gratitude to Enika and to her family and friends, who will always be  dear friends to HOPE.
