IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

This virtual fundraiser has been postponed and a new date will be announced when confirmed.

In adherence with US government regulations, and the limitations upon us due to the Covid 19 pandemic, The Hope Foundation is sadly not able to stage our Annual USA Gala event this year. For those of you that attended last year, we hold such happy memories and thank you for helping me celebrate my 20th anniversary of founding the Hope Foundation.

This year, in lieu of attending our Gala event, we are appealing to you to support HOPE’s St. Patrick’s Day virtual fundraiser, to be held on March 18, 2021 at 7:00pm EST, when we will host a drawing by zoom, for high-profile prizes! There are two Grand Prizes and the winning ticket will get to choose which one they would like. The first grand prize is a stay at Ballyportry Castle in County Clare, Ireland, where the whole castle sleeps up to eleven people and can be yours for a 3-night stay. GRAND PRIZE: “Krishna Book Shop” – Commissioned Painting by Steven Cogle

Donated by Steven Cogle / Andie MacDowell

Stunning piece, which depicts a street scene in India, was painted especially for HOPE by Brooklyn artist Steven Cogle. Celebrities including Chris Rock, Michael Jordan, Andie MacDowell and many others are avid collectors of Cogle’s work. The piece is acrylic & oil stick on canvas and measures 35” high x 53.12” long.

When taking on a Cogle piece, an observer must be aware of the many layers of meaning and complexity. Each painting that Cogle paints keys-in on a sacred story, a story that documents the tradition of African people who were spread throughout the diaspora, from the Ivory Coast to the Caribbean to East Flatbush. “When people ask me what my art is, I say its tribal Africa crossed with urban blight. You can definitely see the African influences in my artwork, but yet I want to tell a story about my environment where I grew up.”

He lives in Crusheen, Co. Clare, but his travels have taken him as far afield as such places as the USA (over 40 states, including a performance at the Smithsonian Institute and award for contribution to the Arts by the City of Philadelphia), UK, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, among otherplaces.
